DIN 82340 On seagoing ships, so-called swan-neck ventilators are used for ventilation, as well as weatherproof and fire-proof closures in the ventilation systems. Swan-neck ventilators according to DIN 82340 have round and angular designs (shape A and shape B). Round swan-neck ventilators can be made of tubing according to ISO 4200, but their elbows are manufactured according to DIN 10255-1. Square swan-neck ventilators must be made of at least the material S235JRH, material no.: 1.0039 according to DIN EN 10025-2. The standard lists in tables the dimensions, masses and free cross section for shape A and also shape B for nominal widths from 125 mm to 250 mm. Also design principles for round or square swan-neck ventilators, for example for closures, ventilation grilles, square flaps, etcetera, are described. The preservation is possible from "hot-dip galvanized" up to customer specifications. Annex A shows examples of installation, angular swan-neck ventilators as well as cover flange and burn-off. This standard has been prepared by the DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-02-03 AA "Lüftungs-, Klima- und Kältetechnik" ("Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning").
