Stairs according to this standard are used in the outside and inside areas of ships and floating equipment of the Deutsche Marine (German Navy), they are not intended for the passenger area on passenger ships. The parts, depth of steps, width of flight and clearance dimensions are specified. Furthermore, the working load, slip resistance of the steps and for installation of the stairs are specified, amongst others. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 132-01-04 AA "Verkehrswege" ("Traffic routes") at DIN.
