The spectacle blind flanges described in this standard are used on ships to temporarily isolate sections of piping from the system and to prevent accidental start-up of these sections. These spectacle blind flanges can be used up to a maximum operating temperature of 120 °C and nominal pressures of PN 10 and PN 16. The responsible committee for this standard is NA 132-02-05 AA "Rohre und Rohrverbindungen" ("Piping systems and connections") at DIN.
