This part of EN 10218 specifies the tolerances on diameter of round wire and, where applicable, on the length of round wire cut to length, for bright steel wire (that means, uncoated), metallic coated steel wire and non-metallic coated steel wire. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 10218-2:1996-08: update of the normative references, new subdivision based on diameters, new subdivision of the tolerances for wires with and without metallic coat, editorial revision. The responsible German standardization committee is Subcommittee 08/4 "Patentiert-gezogener oder vergüteter Federstahldraht" ("Patented cold drawn or quenched and tempered spring steel wire") of the Iron and Steel Standards Committee (FES).
This document replaces DIN EN 10218-2:1996-08 .
