The standards in this series contain the technical delivery conditions for steel tubes for precision applications. Steel tubes for precision applications are used in the furniture industry, but mainly in mechanical and automotive engineering. They are used as shafts, axles, cylinders, injection pipes, pipes for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, cylinders, ring-shaped parts in mechanical engineering and so on. These standards not only contain the steels and delivery conditions, but are also dimensional standards with preferred dimensions, limiting dimensions and tolerances. They can therefore be used as a basis for ordering without the need for further standards. The fourth edition of this part will include all welded, cold drawn tubes. It is the result of combining the previous Parts 3 (for circular tubes) and 5 (for tubes with a square or rectangular cross-section). The standard has been thoroughly revised and now includes higher-strength steel grades. The committee NA 021-00-09-09 UA "Präzisionsstahlrohre" ("Precision steel tubes") at DIN is responsible for this standard.
