DIN EN 1090-3 specifies the technical rules for the execution of aluminium structures. It describes requirements for manufacturing, processing, welding, mechanical connections, assembly, surface treatment and quality assurance. The standard supports structural designers, manufacturers and contractors in implementing aluminium structures safely, durably and in compliance with standards. It is part of the EN 1090 series of standards and applies to load-bearing components and structures made of aluminium.
The standard defines requirements for the execution of aluminium structures throughout the entire manufacturing and assembly process. The focus is on execution classes EXC1 to EXC4, requirements for welding and joining techniques, geometric tolerances, and inspection and documentation obligations. In addition, the standard includes specifications for quality management, material traceability and corrosion protection measures.
Aluminium structures are used, among other areas, in hall construction, façade construction, bridge construction, plant engineering and temporary structures. DIN EN 1090-3 provides a uniform basis for the manufacturing, assembly and quality assurance of aluminium structures. It helps companies ensure execution quality, safety and durability throughout the entire life cycle of a structure.
The standard is particularly relevant for companies that manufacture or assemble load-bearing aluminium structures. It establishes clear requirements for manufacturing quality, inspection processes and documentation and supports proof of standard-compliant execution for clients and inspection bodies.
The 2019 edition was comprehensively revised. The most important changes include:
DIN EN 1090-3 provides the central basis for the standard-compliant execution of aluminium structures. It supports the safe manufacturing, assembly and quality assurance of load-bearing aluminium structures and helps meet requirements for safety, durability and execution quality across all project phases.
