This document (EN 13018:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 138 "Non-destructive testing", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR (France). The responsible national committee is Working Committee NA 062-08-27 AA "Visuelle und thermographische Prüfung" ("Visual and thermographic methods") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing. This European Standard specifies the general principles for visual testing both directly and remotely when it is used to determine the compliance of a product with specified requirements (for example, surface condition of the part, alignment of mating surfaces, shape of part). This European Standard does not apply to viewing activities linked to the use of any other destructive or non-destructive test method.
