Overview

Pressure generated within a coil or a stack of sheets can affect the coating surface and cause marks of gloss transfer, plasticizer migration, etcetera and even blocking/sticking. This part of the EN 13523 series specifies the procedure for determining the resistance of an organic coating on a metallic substrate (coil coating) to salt spray. Neutral salt spray is generally used for steel, acetic acid salt spray for aluminum. This responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 002-00-07 AA "Allgemeine Prüfverfahren für Beschichtungsstoffe und Beschichtungen" ("General test methods for coating materials and coatings") at DIN Standards Committee Coatings and Coating Materials (NAB).
