This European Standard specifies methods for the examination of surface condition (roughness and surface discontinuities) of castings and is applicable to all cast materials except die casting. This European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 190 "Foundry technology", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany). Regarding the German collaboration, the responsible Working Committee is NA 036-00-03 AA "Prüfverfahren für Gusswerkstoffe" ("Test methods for cast materials") at the Foundry Practice Standards Committee (GINA).
This document replaces DIN EN 12454:1998-07 , DIN EN 1370:1997-02 .
