Overview
The new version of EN 13724 differs significantly from the previous version as follows: a) an additional aperture size b) requirements for the installation height of locks. European Working Group WG 5 has taken into consideration to facilitate the removal of mail also for elderly and disabled persons c) improvement of the security of apertures (type 4) fixed to doors or door side-panels. For this purpose, an enhanced security device for apertures to prevent intrusion by unknown persons through a possible access provided by apertures in doors has been specified. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 020-00-08 AA "Öffnungen von Briefkästen" ("Apertures of private letter boxes") at DIN.
