This European Standard specifies the requirements for foot valves for use on tanks with a maximum working pressure greater than 50 kPa for the transport of dangerous goods by road and rail. It is applicable to equipment for use on tanks with gravity and/or pressure bottom loading and discharge for liquid chemicals and liquefied gases. It includes carbon dioxide while excluding refrigerated liquefied gases. This European Standard has been prepared by WG 3 "Design and construction of pressure tanks (P service greater than 0,5 bar)" (secretariat: DIN, Germany) of CEN/TC 296 "Tanks for the transport of dangerous goods" the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR (France). The national mirror committee for this is Working Committee NA 104-02-09 AA "Ausrüstung für Tanks für die Beförderung flüssiger Chemieprodukte" ("Tank equipment for the transport of liquid chemicals") of NATank.
