This European Standard specifies a method for determining the chlorine demand of organic materials intended for use in contact with drinking water, that is during its distribution, transport and storage. The revision of this standard became necessary mainly because of the incorrect equation for calculating the mean chlorine concentration of the blind samples which led to wrong results and therefore had to be corrected. This document has been prepared by Working Group "Wechselwirkungen von Werkstoffen in Kontakt mit Trinkwasser" ("Effects of materials in contact with drinking water") (WG 3) of Technical Committee CEN/TC 164 "Water supply", the secretariat of which is held by NEN (Netherlands). The German body involved in its preparation was NA 119-04-14 AA "Werkstoffe und Bauteile in Kontakt mit Trinkwasser" ("Materials and components in contact with drinking water") of the Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
This document replaces DIN EN 14718:2006-10 .
