This document specifies the fuel quality classes and specifications for wood chips intended for non-industrial use, namely for wood chips produced from forest, plantation and other virgin wood, from by-products and residues from wood processing industry and from used wood, in accordance with DIN EN 14961-1.
This document has been prepared to support the use of wood chips in non-industrial situations and specifically for the domestic/householder markets and smaller commercial boiler situations, where sensitivity to the fuel quality can cause major issues.
This document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 335 "Solid biofuels", the secretariat of which is held by SIS (Sweden). The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-05-82 AA "Feste Biobrennstoffe" ("Solid biofuels") at NMP.
