DIN EN 14972-4:2024-06

This document specifies the evaluation of the fire performance of water mist systems for lightly loaded non-storage and non-manufacturing occupancies with ordinary combustibles, such as offices, schools, hospitals and hotels. This document is applicable to ceiling mounted and sidewall automatic nozzles to be used in restricted and/or unlimited areas. This document is applicable for horizontal, solid, flat ceilings with heights of 2 m and above, up to the maximum tested ceiling height. This document (EN 14972-4:2024) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 191 "Fixed firefighting systems", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 031-03-03 AA "Wasserlöschanlagen und Bauteile - SpA zu CEN/TC 191/WG 5 und WG 10") ("Water extinguishing systems and components - mirror committee of CEN/TC 191/WG 5 and WG 10") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW). For the draft, the German translation "Feinsprüh-Löschanlage" for the term "water mist system" has been changed to "Wassernebelsystem". Already published standards of the DIN EN 14972 series may still contain the outdated translation. The term "Feinsprüh-Löschanlage" or "Feinsprühdüse" means "Wassernebelsystem" or "Wassernebeldüse" respectively.
