Overview

This document specifies safety and design requirements for the bodies of hydraulically operated rear loaded refuse collection vehicles (rear loaded RCV); for the collection, transport and unloading of solid waste and recyclable materials (recyclables). The revision of the European Standard EN 1501-1:2011 became necessary due to the increased safety precautions, especially related to the use of the rear running boards. Amendment A1, included in the present standard, fully takes into account these increased safety requirements. On the initiative of France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Belgium, it was actively supported and could be successfully completed after 2.5 years.
