This European Standard prescribes the methodology for extending the application of test results obtained from test(s) conducted in accordance with DIN EN 1634-1. It covers the following types of steel rolling shutter assemblies: un-insulated manually operated rolling shutters, un-insulated powered rolling shutters, insulated manually operated rolling shutters and insulated powered rolling shutters. Subject to the completion of the appropriate test or tests, the extended application may cover all or some of the following non-exhaustive list: - integrity only (E), radiation (EW) or insulated (EI1 or EI2) classifications - shutter curtain - retraction mechanisms - wall/ceiling fixed elements - decorative finishes - intumescent, smoke, draught or acoustic seals - alternative supporting construction(s). The methods and specifications described in this European Standard mean cost savings, as beyond the direct application of EN 1634-1 amendments are possible within the framework of the extended application without having to carry out elaborate re-tests of the construction product to be changed. This European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 127 "Fire safety in buildings" with German collaboration. The responsible Committee at DIN is Working Committee NA 005-52-05 AA "Brandverhalten von Baustoffen und Bauteilen - Feuerschutz- und Rauchschutzabschlüsse" ("Fire behaviour of building materials and building components - Fire and smoke door assemblies") of NABau.
