Overview
This European Standard specifies definitions and requirements for non-structural elastic sealants used for sealing glazing in building construction applications. This European Standard covers glazing joints from an angle of 7° horizontal. Main areas in which sealants are applied are: - glass to glass; - glass to frame; - glass to porous substrates. Applications for aquariums, structural bonding/glazing, inner and outer seals of manufactured insulated glazing units, horizontal glazing (with an inclination of below 7°) and glazing made of organic material (for instance, polycarbonate, PMMA, etcetera) are excluded from scope of this European Standard. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-02-16 AA "Fugendichtstoffe (SpA zu ISO/TC 59/SC 8 und CEN/TC 349)" ("Sealants (national mirror committee for ISO/TC 59/SC 8 and CEN/TC 349)") at DIN.
