Overview

This European Standard (EN 15938:2010) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 19 "Gaseous and liquid fuels, lubricants and related products of petroleum, synthetic and biological origin" (secretariat: NEN (Netherlands)). The responsible German Committee is Working Committee NA 062-06-81 AA, Mirror Committee to CEN/TC 19 "Gaseous and liquid fuels, lubricants and related products of petroleum, synthetic and biological origin" of the Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (FAM) of NMP. This European Standard specifies a test method for the determination of the electrical conductivity in ethanol and ethanol (E85) automotive fuel in the range from 0,3 µS/cm to approximately 5 µS/cm at a temperature of 25 °C (see clause 4). The electrical conductivity is determined from the measured electrical conductance. The electrical conductivity is an important analytical criterion for the ascertainment and control of anionic and cationic components in ethanol and ethanol automotive fuel. Some of these components can exhibit corrosive properties. This document which is based on DIN 51627-4 and for which WG 21 is responsible has been prepared by CEN/TC 19 "Ethanol Task Force".
