This standard includes safety requirements. This standard specifies relevant requirements of Annex I of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC for machines placed on the market for the first time in the European Economic Area (EEA) in order to facilitate the demonstration of conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This standard specifies requirements for the types of industrial trucks specified in the scope of EN ISO 3691-5:2015. This document is intended to be used in conjunction with EN ISO 3691-5:2015. This document deals with the following significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant to pedestrian-propelled trucks, when used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer: - protection against crushing, shearing and trapping; - electrical requirements; - electromagnetic immunity. These requirements are supplementary to those stated in EN ISO 3691-5:2015 with the addition of requirements for the following hazard: - electromagnetic immunity (external radiation). This document partially replaces the following requirement of EN ISO 3691-5:2015: - electrical requirements. This document specifies supplementary requirements to EN ISO 3691-5:2015: - protection against crushing, shearing and trapping; - information for use (instruction handbook and marking). This document does not specify supplementary requirements to EN ISO 3691-5:2015: - static electricity; - radiation; - general principles for the drafting of instructions; - sales literature. Annex A (informative) contains the list of significant hazards covered by this document. This document (EN 16307-5:2023 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 150 "Industrial trucks - Safety", the secretariat of which is held by BSI. This standard differs from DIN EN 16307-5:2013-06 as follows: a) the document has been brought in line with CEN Guide 414; b) normative references have been updated; c) a reference to EN ISO 14120:2015 has been added (replacing EN 953); d) a reference to EN 1175:2020 has been added (replacing EN 1175-1); e) the requirement for fixed and/or removable guard systems has been clarified in 4.2.1; f) a reference to EN ISO 14120:2015 has been made regarding the safety distances in the normal operating position; g) the hazard "Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) " has been changed to "Electromagnetic immunity (external radiation) ", and the corresponding requirement has been clarified in 4.4; h) Annex A: all hazards which are not covered by this document have been removed; i) Annex ZA has been adapted according to the new template, and relevant Essential Requirements of Directive 2006/42/EC have been added. The national interests during the preparation were represented by Committee NA 060-22-42 AA "Sicherheit von Flurförderzeugen (SpA CEN/TC 150/WG 5, WG 11, WG 12 und ISO/TC 110/SC 2)" ("Safety for industrial trucks") in Technical Section "Fördertechnik" ("Conveying technology(mirror committee to CEN/TC 150/WG 5, WG 11, WG 12 and ISO/TC 110/SC 2)") of DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of the manufacturers and users of industrial trucks, and of the employers' liability insurance associations were involved in the preparation.
This document replaces DIN EN 16307-5:2013-06 .
