This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of the resistance of the seams of rubber or plastic-coated fabrics against tearing out a needle perpendicular to the stitching direction. This resistance is characterized by determining the stitch tear force. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 054-04-04 AA "Kunststoff-Folien und kunststoffbeschichtete Flächengebilde (Kunstleder); allgemeine Eigenschaften" ("Plastic films and plastics-coated fabrics (artificial leather); general characteristics") at DIN.
