DIN EN 16712-2:2015-12

This European Standard is based on DIN 14819 "Pick up hose type D for extinguishing agents" and has been suggested by Germany as European Standard. A pick-up tube for projecting extinguishing agents serves to suck up foam concentrate or additives from a reservoir, and consists of a semi-rigid transparent tube connected at one end to the foam concentrate inlet of an inductor or proportioning device. This European Standard does not contain requirements specifying the type of coupling to be connected to hoses as no European Standard dealing with the connection of firefighting hoses currently exists. Orders for couplings are thus subject to individual agreement between parties. To ensure compatibility with all fire extinguishing components in Germany, all previous provisions laid down in DIN 14819 have been modified, and connection of a DN 20 pick-up to a type D suction coupling as in DIN 14301 has been agreed.
