This document specifies requirements and test methods for the determination of the strength, durability and stiffness of star bases for use for seating with three or more legs. It is not applicable for star bases intended to be used in child seating products. It is applicable without regard to materials, design/construction or manufacturing processes. The requirements are based upon star bases fitted with glides and with castors whose wheels are up to 65 mm diameter and for use by persons weighing up to 150 kg. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 207 "Furniture", the secretariat of which is held by UNI (Italy). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 042-05-19 AA "Anforderungen an Büromöbel" ("Requirements for office furniture") at DIN Standards Committee Timber and Furniture (NHM).
