Overview
The EN 4608 standard series describes requirements for fire resistant single and twisted multicore assembly electrical cables, screened (braided) and jacketed, for use in the on-board electrical systems of aircraft. Part 003 specifies the characteristics of a light weight fire resistant, screened, electrical cables for use in the on-board electrical systems of aircraft at operating temperatures between -65 °C and 260 °C. These cables are UV Laser printable in accordance with EN 3838. The standards of the EN 4608 series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
