Overview
This standard applies to current transformers designed for indoor or outdoor fixed installations in electric traction power supply systems and operated with an overhead contact line AC voltage and frequency in accordance with EN 50163. EN 50163 specifies the a.c. traction systems 15 kV 16,7 Hz and 25 kV 50 Hz. As rails of a.c. traction systems are connected to earth and included in the return current path all phase to earth voltages will be within the tolerances as specified in EN 50163. Nevertheless, phase to phase voltages may be higher in some cases, for example in autotransformer systems. The current transformers covered by this draft standard are mainly used with measuring instruments and protective devices. This standard shall also be applied to current transformers other than inductive types as far as reasonably possible. Requirements of this draft have priority. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 351.2 "Ortsfeste Anlagen" ("Fixed installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
