Overview
To avoid possible hearing damage caused by excessive sound pressure, this standard is intended to specify an appropriate test method for the precise measurement of maximum sound pressure level of headphones and earphones operated in connection with personal music players. This Part 1 deals with complete equipment sets packed by the manufacturer. In this case, personal music player means the complete equipment set supplied together with headphone and earphone (personal cassette player, FM radio receiver, player for digital media). The responsible committee is DKE/K 733 "Sicherheit für Geräte der Unterhaltungselektronik und verwandte Systeme" ("Safety of apparatus of consumer electronics and related systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
