To avoid possible hearing damage caused by excessive sound pressure, this standard is intended to specify an appropriate test method for the precise measurement of maximum sound pressure level of headphones and earphones operated in connection with personal music players. This Part 2 specifies methods of measuring the matching values for use of personal music players and separately sold headphones/earphones of different manufacturers/vendors which can be connected with standardised connectors. The requirements for protection against excessive sound pressure from personal music players are specified in DIN EN 60950-1:2006/A12:2011-08 and DIN EN 60065:2011-10. The responsible committee is DKE/K 733 "Sicherheit für Geräte der Unterhaltungselektronik und verwandte Systeme" ("Safety of apparatus of consumer electronics and related systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 50332-2:2004-03 .
