This European Standard contains the initial, start of life dimensional, optical, mechanical and environmental performance requirements which a factory polished field terminated FPFT simplex connector set for singlemode fibres with an adaptor (plug-adaptor-plug) shall meet in order for it to be categorized as an EN standard product. Consequently, the standard offers investment security for manufacturers and users and provides test laboratories and manufacturers with detailed information on testing. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
