DIN EN 50570:2014-12

This European Standard deals with the safety of electrically operated tumble dryers intended to be used by trained users in, for example, hotels, hospitals, factories, in light industry and on farms. This standard also covers tumble dryers which are intended for commercial use in public areas and operated by lay persons, for example in laundrettes or communal laundry rooms. Their rated voltage shall not be more than 250 V for single phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. This standard also deals with the safety of tumble dryers that use a refrigerating system, incorporating sealed motor-compressors, for drying textile material. These machines may use flammable refrigerants. Additional requirements for these machines are given in Annex BB. This standard covers the essential safety and health requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and is listed in it. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 513.1 "Wäschepflegegeräte" ("Home laundry appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
