Overview

This standard specifies design, dimensions and test requirements for halogen-free cables with extruded insulation and sheath having a voltage rating of up to and including 450/750 V for flexible applications under severe condition for the power supply between the electricity supply point or the charging station and the vehicle. In accordance with the scope of the standard there are no restrictions. The standard differs from DIN EN 50620 (VDE 0285-620):2020-03 as follows: a) Clause 2, "Normative references", has been updated and supplemented; b) 6.3.2, "Application of insulating sheath to the conductor", has been revised; c) Table 2, No. 1.5, Low-temperature test, revised; d) Table 3, No. 1.4, Low-temperature test, revised; e) Table 5, Tests on complete cables, revised; f) Table D.1, No. 2, List of test fluids, revised, and testing is performed on samples of the finished cable; g) Annex B, Guidance on use, and Annex E, Current-carrying capacities, changed to normative; h) Table ZZ.1, Relationship to Annex I of Directive 2014/35/EU, completely revised. Typical examples of applications for this standard include charging cables for the transmission of energy and, where applicable, for data transmission to an electric vehicle.
