Overview

The demand for energy management systems is increasing due to the transition from fossil fuels and nuclear energy to energy generation using renewable energy sources, and the associated decentralization. As a suitable standard for home and building management is in preparation, this document specifies how groups of products from different manufacturers can exchange information with home and building/customer energy management systems located in a home network or the cloud. EN 50631 ensures interoperability in the exchange of information between different household appliances in residential buildings. The document series will be reorganized with a view to further development and will consist of six parts. This document focuses on the interoperability of household appliances and describes the necessary control and monitoring. It specifies a set of functions for household and similar electrical appliances. In addition to energy management, the functions in this document include main use cases for remote control and monitoring. This document covers the general use cases, use case functions, and general data definitions for categories of household appliances (such as washing machines, dishwashers, water heaters) as well as necessary appliance-specific details and deviations. This Part 2 lists and specifies product-specific requirements and guidelines for implementation based on the general data model and general neutral messages. This document does not cover safety requirements.
