This standard specifies the cabling of access networks using optical fibers within the area of locations with multiple subscribers, referred to as the "local area network as part of the access network". The site may comprise one or more buildings. This standard specifies: a) the structure and configuration of the optical fiber cabling; b) requirements for the performance of the cabling; c) options for implementation. This European Standard does not specify the cabling of the access network outside the site or the cabling in the subscriber area, which is used to distribute services beyond the customer's terminal equipment. Safety practices regarding optical hazards are specified in EN 60825-2. Optical power levels greater than those specified in EN 60825-2 are not considered in this standard. The document does not contain safety requirements (electrical safety, fire, etcetera). The standard differs from DIN EN 50700 (VDE 0800-700):2014-05 as follows: a) Annexes B to D with examples of PDAN in apartment buildings, on privately managed properties, and in the local cabling of locations with a single subscriber have been added; b) various editorial improvements; c) A deviations for France updated, A deviations for Finland and Spain added. The document can be used for the pre-wiring of (residential) buildings with multiple residential units with fiber optic cables to support the use of broadband optical networks.
This document replaces DIN EN 50700:2014-05; VDE 0800-700:2014-05 .
