Overview

DIN EN 60143-4 (VDE 0560-41) specifies testing of thyristor controlled series capacitor installations used in series with transmission lines. This standard also addresses issues that consider ratings for TCSC thyristor valve assemblies, capacitors, and reactors as well as TCSC control characteristics, protective features, cooling system and system operation. The TCSC circuit configurations take into account three basic modes of operation: - BKL operation with blocked thyristors (thyristor valve blocked); - BP operation with uninterrupted thyristor power supply; - CAP operation with capacitive voltage boost. The responsible Committee is K 341 "Leistungskondensatoren" ("Power capacitors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
