Overview
This product safety standard specifies the basic requirements for measuring relays and protection equipment with a rated alternating voltage of up to 1 000 V and a rated frequency of up to 65 Hz or with a rated direct voltage of up to 1 500 V. It deals with the safety requirements intended to reduce the fire hazard and hazards that may lead to electric shock or injury of users. In addition, general and basic safety related design requirements are considered. Auxiliary equipment for use in conjunction with measuring relays and protection equipment may be subject to additional safety requirements. Requirements regarding functional safety, including EMC functional safety, as well as the hazard analysis with respect to functional safety are outside the scope of this product safety standard. The responsible committee is DKE/K 434 "Messrelais und Schutzeinrichtungen" ("Measuring relays and protection equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
