Overview
This International Standard deals with the safety of electric sauna heating appliances and infrared emitting units having a rated power input not exceeding 20 kW, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. The scope has been expanded to include infrared cabins. Along with several editorial changes, additional requirements for recessed sauna heaters have been added. The subject area of "remote operation" has also been revised. The responsible committee is UK 511.4 "Raumheizgeräte" ("Space heating appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
