Overview

This standard contains the text of Amendment A1:2011 to IEC 60335-2-7:2008 which, together with some common modifications, has been adopted as EN 60335-2-7:2010/A1:2013, and the text of EN 60335-2-7:2010/A11:2013 prepared by CENELEC. With the amendments mentioned, additional requirements and a test for functional safety of the appliances are added. Furthermore, requirements regarding persons deserving protection and children as well as limits for accidentally touchable hot surfaces are introduced. This standard deals with the safety of electric washing machines for household and similar use that are intended for washing clothes and textiles, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase washing machines and 480 V for other washing machines, in this standard generally referred to as appliances. This standard also deals with the safety of electric washing machines for household and similar use employing an electrolyte instead of detergent. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.1 "Wäschepflegegeräte und Geschirrspüler" ("Laundry machines and dishwashers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
