Overview

This part of IEC 60598-2 specifies requirements for recessed luminaires incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V. This main section does not apply to air-handling or liquid-cooled luminaires. In addition to this part the general requirements and tests for luminaires in accordance with IEC 60598-1 shall be used. The committee responsible for the standard is Subcommittee DKE/UK 521.4 "Leuchten" ("Luminaires") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
