Overview
This standard specifies the requirements for the safety of medical beds. It is the result of extensive work to align and adjust the scope between IEC 60601-2-38, EN 1970 and the third edition of IEC 60601-1. The standard represents the current thinking in basic safety and essential performance of the medical bed which are intended to be used to alleviate illness of patients and disability of disabled persons. It is the effort of a joint working group of the IEC and the ISO. These particular requirements amend und supplement DIN EN 60601-1 (VDE 0750-1):2007-07. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 812.9 "Patientenlagerungseinrichtungen" ("Patient positioning devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 1970:2005-10 , DIN EN 60601-2-38:2001-07; VDE 0750-2-38:2001-07 .
