Overview

This standard is intended to replace the previous edition published in October 2002. The standard specifies the labeling, designation, dimensions, tests and requirements for closed prismatic rechargeable nickel-cadmium single cells. "Prismatic" in this context refers to cells that have right-angled sides and bases. If there is an IEC standard that covers tests and requirements for cells for special applications, and which is in conflict with this standard, the former shall be applied with priority. The responsible committee is DKE/K 371 "Akkumulatoren" ("Accumulators") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
