Overview
This part of IEC 60669 applies to switches in home and building electronic systems (HBES) and associated electronic expansion units with a maximum operating voltage of 250 V AC and a rated current of up to 16 A. This part of the standard applies to HBES switches for the operation of luminaire circuits and for brightness control of luminaires (dimmers) as well as for the speed control of motors (such as fan motors) and switches for other purposes (for example, heating installations), as well as for sensors, actuators, switched sockets, associated electronic extension units and so on. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 542.1 "Schalter und Steckvorrichtungen für den Hausgebrauch und ähnliche Zwecke" ("Switches and plug/socket connections for household and similar use") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
