In connection with the determination of the fire hazard or its potential, in addition to the sum of surfaces of flammable materials themelves, their influence on the spread of fire shall also be taken into account. Part 9-2 of DIN EN 60695 presents a (comprehensive, but incomplete) summary of test methods that are used to determine the surface spread of flame of electrotechnical products or materials from which they are formed. This basic safety publication is directed at technical committees for the implementation in standards and in line with IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51.
