This standard applies to microwave ovens for household use. It also applies to combination microwave ovens. This standard defines the main performance characteristics of household microwave ovens which are of interest to the user, and specifies methods for measuring these characteristics. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 60705:2006-10: a) renaming the usable volume in calculated volume and revision of the measurement method required for the calculated volume (see 7.2); b) new terms in clause 3 including microwave function, microwave combination function, setting in off-condition, setting in standby condition, cooling phase and food base; c) method for measuring the energy consumption for the microwave function in clause 9; d) more precise requirements for measuring devices and measurements in Table Z.1; e) measurement uncertainty of the results in clause Z.1; f) additional product-specific requirements for the measurement of energy consumption of the modes of operation with low power consumption in clause Z.2; g) method for measuring the energy consumption during the cooling phase in Annex ZD (informative). The responsible committee is UK 513.2 "Herde und Mikrowellengeräte" ("Ovens and microwave ovens") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
