The DIN EN 60728-7 series specifies requirements for condition monitoring of the network elements of hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) networks. This is intended to support the design and implementation of compatible management systems. The part DIN EN 60728-7-1 defines requirements for the physical layer (PHY) for communication between a transponder installed in a network element and a central headend. A reference architecture for the forward and backward channels is specified for this purpose, as are the physical parameters of the data transmission, for example channel allocation, modulation scheme, transmission sequence of the bits, level, attenuation. With this change the underlying standard is adapted in such a way that it need not be changed for a longer period of time. A definition and Clause 4 on the HMS reference model as the basis for the specifications for the forward and backward channel will be changed. The responsible committee is DKE/K 735 "Kabelnetze und Antennen für Fernsehsignale, Tonsignale und interactive Dienste" ("Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60728-7-1:2005-08 .
