Overview

This standard applies to grinders, polishers and disk-type sanders, including angle, straight and vertical tools, with a rated capacity not exceeding 230 mm. For grinders, the rated speed does not exceed a peripheral speed of the accessory of 80 m/s at rated capacity. The following has been added as modifications: a) The requirement for a dead man's device/restart prevention device for all grinders has been added. b) The requirements for the size of flanges for offset grinding wheels have been modified. The responsible committee is DKE/K 514 "Elektrowerkzeuge" ("Electric tools") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
