Overview

This part of IEC 60793 applies primarily for the testing of optical fibres as they were manufactured by the fibre manufacturer and for those which were subsequently coated using various polymers with a protective coating (solid jacket). The test can be carried out either on coated fibres after manufacturing or following the impact of various environmental conditions. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 412.6 "Lichtwellenleiter und Lichtwellenleiterkabel" ("Fibres and cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
