Overview
This part of DIN EN 60793 contains specifications for multimode fibers of category A4 with its subgroups A4a, A4b, A4c, A4d, A4e, A4f, A4g and A4h. These fibres have a plastic core and plastic cladding and may have step-index, multi-step index or graded-index profiles. According to DIN EN 60793-2:2012-08, they have a refractive index profile parameter of g less than 1. Category A4 fibers are used in communications equipment and optical fiber cables. A detailed presentation of the areas of application can be found in Table 1 of the document. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.6 "Lichtwellenleiter und Lichtwellenkabel" ("Optical fibres and fibre cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
