Overview

This part of the International Standard IEC 60794 applies to optical fibre cables for use with telecommunication equipment and devices employing similar techniques, and to cables having a combination of both optical fibres and electrical conductors. The standard is a test standard and is directed at manufacturers, users and test laboratories using this standard for production monitoring and quality assurance. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.6 "Lichtwellenleiter und Lichtwellenleiterkabel" ("Fibres and cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
