Overview
This part of IEC 60794 is a family specification for fiber optical telecommunication cables to be used in ducts or direct buried applications. The cable may also be used for lashed aerial applications. In addition, the framework specification DIN EN 60794-3 for duct, buried and aerial cables applies to these cables. These specifications contain requirements for the optical fibres and the cable structure as well as the description of tests or references to corresponding test standards. An essential part of this International Standard is the description of mechanical test procedures in Subclause 4.4. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 412.6 "Lichtwellenleiter und Lichtwellenleiterkabel" ("Fibres and cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
