This part of IEC 60794 is a detailed specification for duct and directly buried optical telecommunication cables for use in premises cabling to ensure compatibility with ISO/IEC 11801 and ISO/IEC 24702. Those standards have requirements to ensure that models work for generic cabling and system performances. In addition to the general requirements of family specification DIN EN 60794-3-10, this International Standard provides special requirements that shall be optionally or additionally fulfilled, amongst others, maximum values for the attenuation coefficient and minimum values for the bandwidth of different fibre types. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.6 "Lichtwellenleiter und Lichtwellenleiterkabel" ("Fibres and cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
