Overview

This part of the DIN EN 60871 (VDE 0560) series of standards covers capacitor units which are used to set the power factor in AC voltage networks above 1000 V and in the frequency range from 15 Hz to 60 Hz and applies in particular to built-in fuses to disconnect faulty capacitor elements to protect the remaining parts of the capacitor unit. Thus, the remaining capacitors can remain in operation. The object of this part of the standard series is to formulate requirements regarding performance and testing and to provide a guide for coordination of fuse protection. The responsible committee is DKE/K 341 "Leistungskondensatoren" ("Coupling capacitors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
