Overview

This International Standard applies to cord switches (mechanical or electronic) actuated by hand, by foot or similar, to operate or control electrical appliances and other equipment for household and similar purposes, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V and a rated current not exceeding 16 A. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 542.2 "Geräteschalter" ("Switches for appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.

Replacement amendments
